Motto: Unity is Strength
Vision: Existing organisations to join CUP and work in solidarity under one umbrella, the CUP umbrella, maintaining their own identity.
Identify areas of concern and needs in our area and surrounds, address those concerns and assist with the following:
Poverty (soup kitchens and food parcels to be distributed. Soup kitchens to unite according to a weekly/monthly
planner)
Education (non-formal training i.e. computer literacy, reading, after school programmes etc.
·
Crèches, Orphanages and Old Age Homes (to assist with staffing and administration). Run childcare and healthcare. Get our local day hospital involved with these programmes. Who associated organisations.
·
Sports (bring sport bodies together and help create more sporting programmes outside the school hours to keep our youth occupied i.e. soccer, tennis, rugby, netball, volleyball, cricket, etc.)
·
Vegetable gardens to sustain food kitchens, agriculture clubs, etc. Get big gardening companies involved and even farmers if we can. The City of Cape Town can provide open land in our areas which can be used for vegetable
gardens. These gardens will also be able to supplement the needs of our soup kitchens and the old age homes, etc.
·
Youth Clubs – to get the youth to form their own organisations and organise youth camps, etc.
·
Arts& Culture (introduce various forms i.e. painting, beading, scrap booking, dance classes, drama, music, the list is
endless)
Swimming (to get a swimming programme introduced, not just for a privileged few) free to our youth who belongs to CUP organisations and clubs.
·
Up-liftment Programmes (workshop in job searching, CV writing, interview skills, dress codes, office etiquette, telephone ethics, financial management, personal development, etc.)
·
Drug Counselling and Alcoholism Abuse – get experienced drug counsellors to be available on a volunteer basis, to help our people with these problems. The day hospital can also play a pivotal role with this initiative as well as other organisations working in this field.
·
Abuse of Woman and children – get a safe house for these families to help to alleviate this problem in our community.
·
Safety and Security (neighbourhood watch and patrols – to work with existing organisations and help get structures in
place)
