About Us:
CUP is the brainchild of three very passionate ladies who saw the need in their community and wanted to do something to change things.
For five years they struggled with events and soup kitchens, but
it was fruitless. They wanted to do something more sustainable.
They operated as Ruyterwacht Community Upliftment Projects. Aletta Lottering, Patricia van der Merwe and Estelle Mathee put heads together.
It was then decided to make use of social media and a facebook page, email and this website was created.
More people learned about CUP. John Javier Basset was the first person to offer his services. Moerida Morat came on board and so did Griffit Nolte, Captain and John Solomons.
They met with various other organisations and departments and was advised by City of Cape Town on their registration and how to go about growing CUP.
Hence, CUP is born.
CUP now is the only official registered NPO at the City of Cape Town, Ward 30, and can stretch their arms nation wide or even wider.
The mission is to feed the people on a daily basis. CUP was born through the need of the people. To create sustainable living and help the vulnerable with their needs and help uplift them.
All the soup kitchens in the area have one day a week to serve the community, thus ensuring that the
people have at least one meal every day. That is just for the start-up. We would like to serve three meals a day and we are hoping that we would grow as big as to be able to do that.
The persons who we cater for, would also give their services to help with our projects i.e. cleaning, building, planting, cooking, washing dishes, etc. These people were all once working people and they can also bring
their skills to the table and it can be utilised. In so doing they are also giving back to the community.
